Trichomoniasis is caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis.

It affects both men and women and can occur with other stds such as chlamydia, nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) and gonorrhea.

Trichomoniasis is spread through sexual contact.

Treatment is with metronidazole.
